Thad’s Finally Getting Married

Folks, Saturday is the big day.  I am ready to tie the knot.  There are serveral posts I’ve wanted to make, but my computer crashed, so I’m out of luck for a little while.  Wedding pics will be posted sometime though.

Game Day 2008

Yesterday was our first gameday together.  We had a great time watching bama kill Clemson and Roz was a good sport to let me get excited; although I was a little subdued since I took some allergy medicine that drained me.  She had her Alabama shirt on and even got a little ‘A’ tatoo on her cheek (tear).  If my computer hadn’t crashed this week I would post a picture, but it will be a little while until I can do that again.

Gulf Shores 2008

 100_1649.JPG

We had a great beach trip to Gulf Shores this weekend.  Along with Rozlynn and me were Mark, Michael and Roz’s friend from DC, Olivia.  We ate some dang good food at Lambert’s (home of throw’d rolls), LuLu’s, and Peach Park.
Last night Mark, Michael and I rode the Sky Coaster, which is my favorite thrill ride, and the ladies rode go-carts.  I was disappointed to see some of them using the breaks.  I never knew go-carts had breaks.

It was good to introduce Roz and Olivia to the beautiful beaches of Alabama.  Hayden, Dave and JesseAnn would have been jealous since they were with us last year for this trip.

Alabama Adventure

Today Roz and I went to Alabama Adventure to spend some leisurely time.  Our plan was to only go to the water park, but after seeing some of the roller coasters, we went to the theme park too.  I was surprised that Rozy went down the steepest slide, but I was proud of her.  We had a good day and we realized, as sad as it is to say, that our bodies don’t handle roller coasters as easily as they used to.  What a shame.  Maybe it was just that we hadn’t eaten much.  Those Dippin’ Dots sure did hit the spot though.  Joseph can’t resist them either.

Night With Seinfeld

Derek and I saw Jerry Seinfeld in Birmingham tonight.  He was as funny as expected and we had a good time.  And I was impressed with one lady who wore the ‘puffy shirt’ to the event.

He talked about everything from bathroom stalls to viagra commercials to five-day weather forecasts.  He said if the five-day forecast was ever correct then they would only do the weather every five days.
At the end he had a Q & A period.  One man asked him if he was going to do an action film.  He said, “I feel like I can tell you anything, even though we just met.  The truth is I’m old, I’m rich, and I’m tired.”  One day I hope to say those words.

Thad and Rozlynn.com

Rozlynn has developed a web site for us that will be included in the wedding announcements.  It’s still under construction, but feel free to check it out. www.thadandrozlynn.com

I really wanted to comment on the picture published of Obama and his wife, but I waited too long.  I loved it though.

I played in the Pritchett-Moore Tennis Tournament (Tuscaloosa’s Wimbledon) last night and got worked.  I played an excellent opponent and enjoyed every bit of it because he ran me and made me work for every point.  He was the #1 seed and could very well win the ‘A’ division.  At least I had two pretty women watching me–Roz and my mom.  I didn’t even yell out of anger.  I’ll see what I can do in the consolation round.  And let me give you some advice, don’t eat a lot of bbq after playing hard tennis in 90+ degree heat.

Roz’s New Swing

100_1570.JPG

This was Roz’s birthday present and I have to say I was very excited to give it to her.  One thing she loves about the south are all the porches and porch furniture.  This isn’t exactly on the front porch, but it’s very relaxing in the evenings.  Throw in a glass of lemonade and it’s about perfect.

In other news, how about the comments Jesse Jackson gets away with again??  That guy is a true menace to society (that’s the softest thing I will call him here, but most people know how I really feel about him).  So Mark, when someone calls you that again, tell them apparently they don’t know what’s going on in the world.

Roddick- Another Disappointment

Last week I had high hopes for Andy Roddick at Wimbledon, but once again he let me down, despite his rediculously super-human fast serve.  But I’m still amazed at the level of tennis with each match.  I’m curious to see if Federer wins this year.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t.

Sometimes I wish I’d started playing tennis at a young age so I could do it for a living, but I guess that’s not too common for middle-class small town America.  Wouldn’t it be great to play tennis for a living?  Unfortunately I’m considered too old now, so I’ll just stick to my Monday night league.

In more important news, Roz rolled in to town last night and this time we don’t have to say goodbye at the airport.  She now lives here and will be my permanent roommate come September 6.  I think I’m going to like this setup.

Countdown to September 6

100_1510.JPGAfter a three-hour flight delay in Birmingham Friday night, I finally arrived in Washington, DC to procede with my plan to propose to Roz.  Everything went as hoped and she agreed to marry me at 1 am Saturday morning.  Then as soon as she said yes and we took a couple pictures, the rain came down.  We were fortunate it held off for so long.   It’s been a perfect weekend and I can’t thank Michael and Hayden enough for preparing the site.  So it’s official, Forester is getting married to a woman that’s custom-made for me.  Regardless of the 3 hour delay Friday and 2 hour delay Monday, I still love Southwest Airlines.  I was able to spend one extra day with Roz for only $14.
