I may sound like a nerd for this, but I loved watching the Thundercats when I was little, along with He-Man. I will be seeing this when it comes out. Has anyone heard of a He-Man movie in the works?

As a Wii owner and proponent for two years, I could never admit going to the hospital from playing it. In fact, if I ever do, I will be making some drastic lifestyle changes. These people are in extreme bad shape if they pull or strain muscles while playing.

Leadership: Texas Hold em Style

This is a new book I’m reading by Raymond Foster and Andrew Harvey. It is the most unique leadership book I’ve read because of the analogies to poker. It is also very easy to read for me because I have a short attention span and the chapters are short (52, to match a deck of cards). They also have supplemental info stuck in the chapters; including explanations of the rules of poker and how these rules compare to real-life leadership, which is beneficial to me since I’m not fluent in poker. As Foster noted, “You’re dealt a certain hand. How you play that hand as a leader determines your success.”
I have personally been in contact with Lieutenant Raymond Foster and was impressed with his background as a retired L.A. policeman and for his knowledge on global terrorism.
So when I say this book is unique, that also means that I really enjoy it and recommend it for anyone who likes to learn from various leadership books. It is available on their web site and Amazon.

I’m just glad this isn’t about anyone I know, but you’ve got to read this story. I love how it starts out, “a 33-year-old who still lives with his parents…”. He doesn’t need a woman because he made one that will never get tired.

It’s Okay To Say ‘Merry Christmas’

I saw a pilot with this sticker on his luggage this past weekend in Dallas and complimented him on it. I’ve been tired of the sensitivity about Christmas for several years now. I will never be hesitant to say Merry Christmas. Interesting fact about me: if I know of a store that will not allow their employees to say this phrase, I try my best to avoid them.
We are going to the Rockette’s tonight and are looking forward to the show. Merry Christmas.
Saban: How Good Do You Want To Be?

I just finished this book (referenced Nov. 24) and wanted to make a few comments on it. First off, if you like self-help books, this is a great one. Some of the specific details about certain football players on LSU’s teams weren’t interesting, but overall I give it high marks.
One story and lesson he addressed was about knowing your competition. He said when he was a fifteen-year-old sophomore, he was the quarterback and called all the plays. They were playing an important game on the road against a good opponent which would determine if they got in the state playoffs. They were down 12-18 with fourth and 12 and with twenty-five seconds left. His coach called time-out and Nick was relieved because he didn’t want to have to call the play. His coach asked him what he wanted to run, and he said “I don’t know, Coach, I thought you would call the play.”
“Well, you’ve got the fastest guy in the state at left halfback and an incredible senior split end. I really don’t care what play you call, but I’d like to see the ball in either of their hands.”
He did just that and they won 19-18. After the game, the coach told him, “In critical situations don’t think of plays, think of players.”
That’s a good lesson in sports or in any realm of your life involving leading people.
Frazier vs. Ali

If these quotes don’t get you excited as a sports fan, I don’t know what will. And I hope I’m not let down with this weekend’s game. It’s basically a miracle that we’re even in the SEC championship game and ranked #1.
