Forester Money Management

Life as a single, working man was easy–spend money on what I wanted, once I’d paid all bills.  Now that there are two of us living off one income, we have had to make some adjustments.

I think it’s very smart to sit down and budget together.  This way both parties can also see how much money is actually coming in and available.  Roz and I have considered using some type of household budgeting software.  I recently discovered Finicity thru a friend, Dave Mink.  Or you may have read about it from Michael Andrew.  Regardless, I have checked it out myself and really like it.  Roz and I both agree with these principles taught and want to apply them in our daily living; at least on some level.
Finicity is a company dedicated to teaching people about money management.  I recommend you check it out.  It teaches the technique of Envelope Budgeting; which is very interesting and worth doing.  Several other money gurus have taught this principle.  I don’t post information on here that I don’t have some kind of passion about.

Roll Tide.  Hopefully we can keep our #2 ranking and move to #1.  And yes, I know I predicted us to lose to Georgia, but if you really know me, that’s how I stay realistic.  I have to keep my expectations low because of all the years of probation, which caused mediocre teams.  We are finally getting thru that though.

  1. So what’s your thoughts on the rejected Bailout bill?

First things first. I thought the rankings were a slap in the face. Alabama should have moved up to #1 and Texas #2. Just because you have a good VERY CLOSE game there is no reason for Texas to jump 4 spots! Roll Tide!! (BTW I’m a Cal Grad and a U of U fan)

On the budget issue. There are some great tools out there to help you budget your money on the Internet. One that I really like is an online budgeting program that is free. It forces you to spend what you have. You enter in your paycheck you allocate your expenses and it tells you were you are on a cash basis all the time. It was developed by a very smart and frugal MS in computer Science Grad from Utah State University. Take a look I think you and your readers will like it. It’s called Smart Budget and the secure site URL is http://www.sbudget.com

Another free budgeting site that I found is http://www.budgettoolkit.com It has support for electronic banking without having to hand over your bank account numbers unlike many other budgeting sites that I’ve tried. Nice graphical presentation, etc. I also like the fact that you can create custom subcategories.
