Justice At Its Best
September 30, 2008
If anyone breaks into my home to harm my family, they deserve to die. This is a great story of a sex offender getting what he deserved after breaking into someones home with intentions of raping a teenage girl. The dad acted quickly and the mom called 9-1-1. Authorities are still not sure if the dad meant to kill him or it just happened from a heart attack. Regardless, the dad will have no charges filed against him–or at least for now,…. until some lawyers get ahold of this story.
If I were in this dad’s situation, I hope I’d do the same thing. If not, I hope I could inflict serious pain and injury on anyone that forces their way into my home–especially with intentions to harm my family. I applaud this man for his acts.
Mark, I’m sure you have something to add to this…

Forester Money Management
September 28, 2008
Life as a single, working man was easy–spend money on what I wanted, once I’d paid all bills. Now that there are two of us living off one income, we have had to make some adjustments.
I think it’s very smart to sit down and budget together. This way both parties can also see how much money is actually coming in and available. Roz and I have considered using some type of household budgeting software. I recently discovered Finicity thru a friend, Dave Mink. Or you may have read about it from Michael Andrew. Regardless, I have checked it out myself and really like it. Roz and I both agree with these principles taught and want to apply them in our daily living; at least on some level.
Finicity is a company dedicated to teaching people about money management. I recommend you check it out. It teaches the technique of Envelope Budgeting; which is very interesting and worth doing. Several other money gurus have taught this principle. I don’t post information on here that I don’t have some kind of passion about.
Roll Tide. Hopefully we can keep our #2 ranking and move to #1. And yes, I know I predicted us to lose to Georgia, but if you really know me, that’s how I stay realistic. I have to keep my expectations low because of all the years of probation, which caused mediocre teams. We are finally getting thru that though.
Georgia Death Match
September 27, 2008
Today was just about a perfect day–spent it with my wife, the weather was perfect, went biking, and watched Bama pound UGA. Actually I got pretty mad in the second half when we let them get in the game and move the ball. But I guess I’m okay with the 41-30 outcome. Georgia is my second favorite team in the SEC, but I am loyal to my alma mater and love college football. It’s been great seeing at least three top 10 teams lose this weekend to unranked teams,–another reason I love college football.
My question is how many Alabama fans were there, especially since there’s no gas in Atlanta? Oh well, I wish I could have joined in the Rammer Jammer in person.
Trojans Go Down
September 26, 2008
I was among many football fans that thought USC was going to be very hard to beat this year. Well, I was wrong. I loved seeing them lose to Oregon State last night and to see that look of disbelief on Sanchez’s face.
I’m sure I’m not the only fan now to think how wide open the race for a national champion is. It’s easy to think Bama has a shot. And we do, but we have to beat Georgia first and also Arkansas State. I’ve already predicted we will lose to Georgia this weekend, but if we don’t, we have a legit chance for an SEC title and national title. But, there are a lot of good teams out there. It’s extremely premature to think Alabama will win the National Title this year, but at least we can see it’s possible (until we lose to UGA). I’ll be watching every minute of it tomorrow night in HD.
Ted Kennedy on The Financial Crisis…
September 24, 2008
As soon as I saw Ted Kennedy speaking today on the economic crisis, I said to myself, “I don’t trust that man with the economy or with my money at all.” I may be wrong, but I would bet he’s never worked a blue collar job in his life and can not relate to the common folk of our country. He is a life-long politician (much like Al Gore) and his plans only are to benefit him, and maybe his party.
I do believe we are in a state of emergency, and we heard some details from Pres. Bush tonight. It’s serious enough that McCain has suspended his campaign to help with the bailout plan.
One of my successful real estate mentors, and friends, (yes, this is the guy that hijacked my web site two weeks ago) says he believes now is the time to invest in real estate. He says investors make more money now when things are on sale. He’s not alone. Warren Buffett has stepped up his acquisitions as well. Here is the link to a great article. This is a very interesting and motivating read.
I like reading what aggressive investors are doing in times like this, especially since I continue to lose money in my IRA. But, like I said months ago, I leave it alone because it will get better. I may make small adjustments, but I don’t panic. Of course, Roz can’t call me ‘daddy war-bucks’ yet, so don’t put much into what I say.
Did Bill Clinton Really Say This…
September 23, 2008
Speaking of Sarah Palin: “I get this,” Clinton said. “My view is … why say, ever, anything bad about a person? Why don’t we like them and celebrate them and be happy for her elevation to the ticket? And just say that she was a good choice for him and we disagree with them?”
I am a fan of Palin and even though I like Romney more, I think this ticket has a better chance of winning than McCain/Romney. I saw a hilarious picture today of Obama cleaning Palin’s shoes. How appropriate.
Dreamland
September 19, 2008
Tonight Rozlynn and I are eating at the original Dreamland. I am fortunate enough to have a wife that loves good bbq. Once I took her to the original, she never wants to go back to the other locations.
I posted more pictures from the wedding and honeymoon on the ‘various pictures’ tab. Still waiting for the professional ones.
I’ve been getting used to life again after almost two weeks off work. Those were good days,.. but they will only get better. At least I still haven’t had to pay $4/gallon gasoline yet.
The Honeymoon Is Officially Over, but Life Is Great
September 15, 2008
One of these days I’ll have a working computer and post some great pics of our past week and a half. Roz and I got married on the 6th and the wedding and reception and other parties were perfect. We really appreciate all our family and friends who sacrificed time and money to be there. The honeymoon on the beach was great too.
I’ve had a lot to talk about lately, but my priority has been my new little bride. I was disgusted with the gas prices on Friday. We had a hard time finding somewhere to get gas since everywhere was full. I’ve never paid $4/gallon and didn’t plan to start then. And I didn’t.
We had a great time at the Alabama football game Sat too. It was Roz’s first and she loved it.
Life is good here. Derek, thanks for the ‘thoughtful’ video. Some of you know the inside jokes, and some of you know some of it is a stretch…. That’s okay Derek, your intentions are appreciated.
I posted a few pics in the various pics section. More to come.
