After a three-hour flight delay in Birmingham Friday night, I finally arrived in Washington, DC to procede with my plan to propose to Roz. Everything went as hoped and she agreed to marry me at 1 am Saturday morning. Then as soon as she said yes and we took a couple pictures, the rain came down. We were fortunate it held off for so long. It’s been a perfect weekend and I can’t thank Michael and Hayden enough for preparing the site. So it’s official, Forester is getting married to a woman that’s custom-made for me. Regardless of the 3 hour delay Friday and 2 hour delay Monday, I still love Southwest Airlines. I was able to spend one extra day with Roz for only $14.
Countdown to September 6

Whooo-hooo! congratulations and all that jazz. I knew it was coming, just wondering when it would finally happen. =]
I will be most honored to provide the traditional possum to be sacrificed at your nuptials. To keep with your background and upbringing I recommend foregoing the tux and sticking to overalls and bare feet.
Congratulations – for awhile there I was concerned you might be a fairy.
congrats Thad!! I’m so happy for you.
what happened to her that she was in the hospital (previous posts)
Kim, she was in the hospital for mono–an extreme case. Fortunately I never got it, and hopefully I won’t get it. Those 10 days sealed the deal for us though!
I thought it would never happen! I am very happy for you…
I’ve been waiting for this! I’ve been reading this between the lines on your blog posts and I am so extatically happy for you! I think you really deserve this and I can’t wait to see you with a family. You’re going to be so great. We’ve come a long way since Geology 101, huh? Not to bring us crashing down to reality or anything, but have you read Bill O’Reily’s “Culture Warrior”? He talks a lot about the ACLU. I read it this morning and immediately thought of your ACLU blog rant. Turns out, it was never created for purely good reasons (if you take Bill’s word for it, but he isn’t known for spinning things.) Congrats again!!!
Congratulations Thad! That is awesome!
Thad!!! CONGRATS!!! Cheyenne and I were talking about you last night and she was telling me that you were probably getting married…. I’m so very excited for you!
Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you!
Congratulations! I am SO excited for you? Did y’all set a date?
okay-so I am an idiot…… I guess that is what “countdown to Sept. 6th means”.
Sorry! I didn’t read the title of the post until later!
Cheyenne, yes I have read “Culture Warrior” and loved it. In fact, it’s one of my favorite books. I agree with O’reilly on most topics, but not all. He is dead on when it comes to the ACLU too.
Thanks for the support. I can’t wait to marry Roz. She is custom made for me.
Of course my Patsy-girl has kept me updated with the latest happenings. Will the JF fam be meeting her when they come out next week? Just wanted to pop on and tell you Congrats! Jodie (Patsy’s friend in CO)
Congrats Thad! We’re so excited for you!!!!!!
Yes Jodie, Roz will be meeting the JF family, along with my other brothers and sister for the 4th of July. She’s in for a good experience…
Thanks for checking out the blog.
Congrats…
Roz- you asked me on an earlier posts
http://www.thadforester.com/2008/06/10/8-years-ago-today/
when this payback will take place…
I guess you now know the answer.
However, I hope you both have some thick skin for my makings of an evil scheme!
Derek
PS- Thad – why didn’t you video the whole shibang then slap it up on You Tube?
By the way,
I’m glad I finally was able to talk you outta of the mail order bride you’d picked out.
-D
Derek,
Bring it, I ain’t scared!
Roz
Despite what some of you may think (Kira and Ben), I have actually wanted to get married for quite some time–probably when some of you were still in elementary school. I just had to sift thru and find the one that was perfect for me. What can I say, life is good. Ya’ll want to come to the wedding in Logan?? There will be bbq and Grapico.
It is true Thad, we have BOTH wanted this thing called marriage for quite some time and it was worth waiting to find a person who was “custom made” for me and a perect fit.
And speaking of a countdown to September 6th, I invite all that can attend our wedding to please come. It will be an all out celebration and would love all those we love to be there to celebrate with us!
Now that you’ve just made the biggest–and wisest–decision of your life, where will you be taking Roz for a honeymoon? Since you’ve been spending so much on airfare to D.C. lately, what would it hurt to go to the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego? Or you could even go to L.A. (that is, Lower Alabama) to see the infamous Black Belt.
Thanks for the suggestions Huffy. Don’t worry, our honeymoon will be somewhat simple, but perfect and away from LA and CA. I told Roz not to worry about that because I’ve got it under control. And nothing less than the best for Rozy. Just think what we could have done if I wasn’t spending all that money on plane tickets to DC? Oh well, I do know that a water park will be involved with the honeymoon. Sounds plain, but we both love them.
Congratulations Thad! I’m glad you found the perfect girl.
Thad,
Congratulations!! I just looked at your picture and could see the sparkle in both of your eyes. That truly tells the story. I’m really excited for ya’ll and can’t wait to see both of you in a little over a week. Can’t wait for all the excitement to come. I’m grateful you found the perfect girl. You of all people deserve it. I’ve been waiting a while for my sister-in-law from you, Thad. I’m sure we will have a great connection.
Love,
Patsy
We are so happy for you. We can’t wait to meet Roz.
I am so happy for you two. Congratulations Thad! I am so glad that you are getting married in Utah – we will be there.
To say I am excited is a complete understatement!!!!! I must say it brings a tear to my eye to think about what an amazing life yall are going to share together. I feel so privilaged to witness such a perfect match come together. I wish you the very best. You both are such amazing people!
You’re getting married? Congrats Uncle Thaddeus! Are ya’ll coming to Haleyville anytime soon so I can meet the bride to be?
I came back to re-read this post and add a comment about finding someone “custom-made”.
I just read that comment to me. so in response – Hey Now! I knew you wanted to get married. And Yes I know you are that much older than me. Marriage like other great things we experience in life, is so wonderful that once you’ve experienced it you want your loved ones to experience it as well. And despite the MAJOR lack of communication between our family & you (Mostly because I thought you would find it really weird for me to be keeping in touch w/ you about our goings-on considering you’ve only met me once and Ben is the one that knows you best, but he’s not good at communicating) you are a loved one to us. You were supposed to be invited to participate in the blessings of all 3 of our children, but again the communication issue.
Marriage just happened sooner for us than you. Sometimes it does take longer to find the one “custom-made” for you. And I do remember you having high standards for your wife, as you should. You definitely deserve the best! I remember telling Ben (maybe he told you) There’s no perfect woman, just one perfect for him. If he keeps going, he’ll find her eventually. =]
Our comments were meant as good natured ribbing. I’ve been reading between the lines of your posts and once Roz was in the hospital, I knew that would seal the deal. Because it happened to us, too.
We are extremely happy for you & Roz. And we’re trying our best to be there! =]
Thanks Kira. I was never offended by anything you said–it was all in good fun. Apparently several people were reading between the lines with the Roz posts over the last few months. This web site isn’t meant for all the nitty-gritty details of my personal life, so I never elaborated much on our dates. But, she’s too special to not let the world know about her.
No prob on the baby blessing deal. Maybe I’ll see ya’ll in Tuscaloosa when we bless ours, whenever that is. You’ll probably have another one by then.
We’d love to see ya’ll at the wedding in Logan…. no pressure.
